October on the Coast: Four Events That Capture the Spirit of South Orange County

In South Orange County, autumn doesn't arrive with falling leaves. It comes with golden light over the Pacific, cooler evenings on the terrace, and a calendar full of the traditions that make these communities feel like home. For those who live here, or are considering it, October shows the lifestyle at its best: artful, family-centered and connected.

Here are four events we're highlighting this month.

Coast Film & Music Festival | Laguna Beach | October 16–25

For ten days, Laguna Beach becomes a gathering place for filmmakers, musicians and adventurers. The Coast Film & Music Festival showcases documentary and adventure films inspired by the mountains and the sea, paired with live music, talks and special programming, including an evening at the Irvine Bowl on October 23. It's a natural fit for a town whose identity has always rested on art and the ocean. It's also a great reminder of why Laguna remains one of the most culturally rich coastal enclaves in California.

Ghosts & Grooves by Laguna Dance | Rivian Theater | October 30th @ 6:30pm

Laguna Dance has long brought world-class dance to our community, and Ghosts & Grooves adds a playful seasonal twist. Celebrate this spooky season with creative costumes, learn the classic Thriller dance and boo-gie on down at one of Laguna's best Halloween parties.  It's the kind of evening that shows off Laguna's arts scene, which is sophisticated and a little unexpected.

Halloween Walk by the Laguna Beach Parents Club | Main Beach | October 21st

Few scenes capture village life like hundreds of costumed children parading from Main Beach down Forest Avenue, stopping at local shops and restaurants for treats. The Laguna Beach Parents Club's annual Halloween Walk ends with a festive after-party. For families, it's a beloved tradition. For anyone thinking about a move, it's a clear picture of the close-knit neighborhood life behind Laguna's postcard image.

Haunted Trails | Crown Valley Park, Laguna Niguel | October 22–25

Now in its 26th year, Laguna Niguel's Haunted Trails turns Crown Valley Park into a walk-through fright experience that draws crowds every October. Evenings begin at 6:30 p.m., and presale tickets are available through October 21. It's recommended for ages 10 and up, so plan a thrilling night out with teens or friends.

Living the Season

Events like these are what turn a beautiful address into a true home. From Laguna's galleries and beaches to Laguna Niguel's parks and family neighborhoods, South Orange County offers a lifestyle that's as much about community as it is about coastline.

If you're thinking about making this your home, or making a move within it, we'd love to show you what's possible this season.
